Splashbacks

Glass has become a popular choice for wall finishes in locations in the home as glass can be printed as almost any image or colour can be incorporated into the design. One area that requires special consideration is when glass splashbacks are located in kitchens near gas burners. Being close to burners the glass will be subject to heat so there are specific clearance requirements. The standard requires the wall (within 200 mm of the burner) to be protected to a height of at least 150 mm above the nearest gas burner. One acceptable methods to protect the combustible surface is to have toughened safety glass of a minimum 5 mm thickness on the wall.
