2021 Revision of AS 1288 Published

AGWA is pleased to announce the 2021 revision of Australian Standard (AS) 1288 has now been published.

AS 1288:2021 – Glass in buildings – Selection and installation - is the newly published revised edition of AS 1288. The 2021 edition of AS 1288 supersedes the 2006 edition and AGWA encourages all industry practitioners to update their copy of this important Standard to ensure they are using the latest information.

AS 1288 is a primary reference document to the National Construction Code (NCC). This document sets out procedures for the selection and installation of glass in buildings, subject to wind loading, human impact, and special applications, such as overhead glazing, barriers and glass assemblies.

Please note that the scope of this revision, as mentioned in the Preface of the document, only covers Sections 1, 6 and 7. AGWA will be working on further amendments to AS 1288 in the upcoming editions.

AS 1288:2021 can be purchased from the Standards Australia website or any authorised distributor of Australian Standards.

In order to further clarify the changes to AS 1288, AGWA have prepared a Technical Fact Sheet summarizing the key changes and providing background information regarding the scope of the revisions.
