Tasmania COVID Update, 15 October 2021

Just in case Friday afternoons aren't busy enough - the Tasmanian Government has just announced a three day lockdown for Hobart and Southern Tasmania.

The restrictions apply to people living in the following councils: Brighton, Central Highlands, Clarence City, Derwent Valley, Glamorgan-Spring Bay, Glenorchy City, Hobart City, Huon Valley, Kingborough, Sorell, Southern Midlands and Tasman.

From 6pm today, Friday 15 October, you must stay at home unless you are:

  • Shopping for urgent household supplies within 5 km of home.
  • Attending medical or health appointments.
  • A permitted worker who cannot work from home.
  • Going to school if unable to learn from home.
  • Exercising (within 5km of your home).
  • Caring for a vulnerable person or for other compassionate reasons.

Facemasks must be worn both inside and outside unless a person is in their own home.

Construction and civil construction are closed - other than for permitted circumstances including:

  • Safety or security of the site.
  • To maintain critical plant / equipment or assets including partially completed works that would otherwise deteriorate.
  • To receive deliveries that would deteriorate.
  • In emergencies.
  • To deal with environmental risks.
  • To maintain public utilities or transport infrastructure.
  • To manage the spread of disease.

Factories and facilities supporting manufacturing, production and processing are permitted to be open but contactless collection and delivery should be offered where possible.

Premises that are open or allowed to operate with restrictions during the lockdown must:

  • Have a COVID-19 Safety Plan.
  • Comply with density restrictions.
  • Comply with Check-in-Tas requirements.
  • Ensure all staff and patrons wear face masks.
  • Ensure physical distancing of staff and customers.
  • Provide click and collect or contactless delivery (where possible).

All efforts must be made for employees to work from home during the lockdown.
